The pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive. The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during the 1990s.
The pie chart shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive. As we see in the chart, the causes of worldwide land degradation in the highest percentage is over grazing with the percentage is 35 %. Next, over cultivation in the third place cause of land degradation with the percentage is 28%. The last cause is by other in 7%.
The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during 1990s. The regions were North America, Europe and Oceania. In Europe, the percentage total land degraded was the highest compared by the other countries, that was 23 %. The number of percentage degradation in Europe by deforestation peaked at 98 %, followed by the number of percentage over cultivation was 7.7 %. But, in Oceania the highest percentage land degraded by over-grazing, that was 11.3 %.
In conclusion, the highest total land degraded in Europe which was deforestation and over cultivation got the high number compared by others. Then, Oceania had the highest number of over-grazing and North America had the lowest percentage in overall cause land degraded.
