the graph below campares changes in the birth rates of China and the USA between 1920 and 2000.
The provided line graph compares and contrasts the birth rates of China and America over a 80-year period starting from 1920.
Overall, the birth rates of both nations experienced a great deal of ups and downs and peaked in 1950 with that of the USA was rather higher than that of China.
It is evident from the chart that in the first 30 studied years, the birth rates of America and China went through various volatilities. It was not until 1930 did the rate of the latter surpass that of the former and reach 15% after five years. However, the statistics for China plummeted significantly by 10% and leveled out until 1945 when a similar trend was witnessed in the USA with the figure also decreasing to 5%. America and China saw their birth rates recovering and peaking at 15% and 20% respectively after five years.
However, both countries’ figures followed a consistent downward trend until the last year of the recorded period. The birth rate of China fell under that of the USA again in 1956, being only about 3% in 2000.
