The line graph illustrates the amount of wheat exported in Australia, Canada and European Community over the period of five years, staring in 1985.
Looking at the graph, it is immediately clear that while European community registered an increase in the wheat exports, the opposite was true for Australia. Throughout the period, despite of significant fluctuations, Canada exported the largest amount of wheat in most years.
In 1985, the amount of wheat European community exported stood at around 17 million tonnes. It, then decreased to under 15 million tonnes one year later before a slight increase to exactly 15 million tonnes by 1988. However, over the last three years, a considerable increase was witnessed in wheat exports, and European community exported the largest amount of wheat out of three regions examined. By contrast, an opposite trend was seen in wheat exports in Australia. After a slight rise, it fell gradually form over 15 million tonnes to over 10 million tonnes by 1989, and remained unchanged at this level towards the end of the period.
Over the period, Canada experienced significant fluctuations, in 1985, about 19 million tonnes of wheat was exported. It declined slightly before resurging to 25 million tonnes in 1988, which is the highest point of the paragraph. However, the figure immediately fell steeply to under 15 million tones one year later. Finally, a rise of nearly 5 million tonnes was registered in the last year of the period.
