Average carbon dioxide emissions per person, 1967-2007.
The given charts depict data bout average emissions of carbon dioxide per person in such countries as United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal during the period from 1967 to 2007.
It can be seen that the Sweden line almost converged with United Kingdom and crossed with Portugal line. Emission in UK was the highest during the whole period. By contrast, Portugal emission had the lowest points until the crossed.
Looking at the details, it must be said that emissions in United Kingdom had a slight downward trend during the period. It started with roughly 11 tonnes in 1967 and finished in 2007 with nearly 9 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Until 1977 the Sweden line rose from approximately 9 to slightly more than 10 tonnes. After that it was dropping steadily to almost 6 tonnes in 2007. It is clear to see that such emissions as in Italy and in Portugal were climbing gradually. The former started at around 4 tonnes and the latter at about 1. It is worth noting that in 1997 both of them were still rising but marginally.
