You live in a room in college which you share with another student. However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it very difficult to work.
Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In the letter,
• describe the situation
• explain your problems and why it is difficult to work
• say what kind of accommodation you would prefer
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter in regard to the issues that I am facing for the room that I have been allotted. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Education and working part time in the morning. As a result, the only time I get to study is in the late evenings and night.
But, in contrast the student that I am sharing the room is a young teenager who enjoys late night parties and chatting with his friends post midnight. He is also a musician and plays music on odd hours of the day. Due to this ongoing interruption I am not able to concentrate on my studies and have sleep deprivation, which is affecting my work.
I would request if some other room arrangement could be made, probably a single sleep-out room. I do not mind paying a little extra, but my work and my studies are utmost important. I hope you can understand my situation and find a suitable solution.
Would be waiting in anticipation for your response.
Yours faithfully,
Eric
