Both the reading and the listening discuss solutions of harmed birds because of the modern glassy buildings. The reading passage gives three solutions to manage the damage, but the listening denies each solution by using its inefficient ways.

The reading passage firstly mentions using one-way glass. However, the lecturer denies the idea that using one-way glass because she mentions that one-way glass will make a mirror outside of the building. The birds cannot identify the mirror as a mirror, thus they will be more in danger than glassy buildings.

Furthermore, the article support to paint the glass because birds will understand the glassy building as a building and turn the building and to paint a building will become innovated architect's design. The listening refutes the solution by using that lined colorful patterns will be assumed like a hole by birds and they will attempt to cross the building by that hole.

Finally, the reading passage suggests creating an artificial magnetic field that makes birds avoid glassy buildings. Nevertheless, the professor emphasizes that the birds use magnetic field only in long-distance travel, such as from cold country to a warm country. they use light and eyes in short distance travel, hence the artificial magnetic field cannot help to birds' direction from big glassy buildings.
