The graphs below show the average monthly expenditure on children's sports and participation in different sports in UK from 2008 to 2014.
The line graphs reveal the data about how much money allocated on children’s sports every month and the popularity of different kinds of sport among British children between 2008 and six years later.
An overview is that the average monthly expense on children’s sports witnessed an upward trend whereas football was the favorite leisure activity during the time given.
Beginning at 20 million pounds in 2008, the spending on children’s sport climbed to nearly 25 million after two years, which was subsequently subjected to a marked increase of 5 million, reaching 28 million. Interestingly, this figure kept surging and peaked at 32 million by the end of the survey.
In terms of three genres of sports, football was dominant in the list, with 8 million children participating, which was fourfold the statistics for swimming and eight times more than that of athletics in the beginning year. Despite a marginal fall in 2010, the number of children playing football gradually rose to reach the top of 9 million in 2014. The similar trend was seen in the figure for swimming, which ended at 4 million while after a stable period, there was a remarkable increase of 4 million in the number of children choosing athletic, which then remained unchanged at 5 million until 2014.
