You borrowed some books from your school or college library. Unfortunately, you have to go away to visit a sick relative and cannot return the books in time.
Write a letter to the library. Explain what has happened and tell them what you want to do about it.
Dear Sir,
I am writing this missive to inform you regarding the books I borrowed from your library but due to unforseen circumstances, I will not able to return the same on the expected time.
Last month, I lend 3 history books of the author Kimberley for my coursework but, yesterday, my uncle met with an accident while he was coming to meet me. When I received a call from the hospital, I went straight there as no one was there to attend him and due to this reason, I will miss the deadline to handover the books.
As, there is a rule that either there is a penalty for missing the due date or the borrower should notify in advance if there is any delay, so, I am updating you, as I will not able to attend the school till next week. I am sending the books with my friend who is living nearby, so, that there should not be any further delay as someone may need them for their studies.
I am looking forward for the positive response.
Yours faithfully,
Rupali Mahajan
