The reading passage and lecture are both about the pros and cons of natural forest of 1988 in Yellowstone park. The reading strongly postulates that in summer of 1988 the fire spread over vast areas, caused a lot of damage and it lasted for almost two months then people required the new policy of putting out the forest fires instead of "let it burn'. On the other hand, The listening adamantly delineates that after that year this area has flourished a lot because of bringing a creative change for several compelling reasons.
First and foremost, According to the author of the excerpt that plants were widely destroyed and trees completely covered flames and smoke also little vegetation were devastated so it became a national wasteland in 1988. Nonetheless, the professor offsets these points by declaring that this natural forest fire created an opportunity to more grow otherwise. Moreover, after that event, the park has an excessively diverse ecosystem. For example, the certain tree species could evolve in luminous spaces and some seed sprouts in the high-level hill.
On top of this, the professor elaborates these points by bringing up that it promptly recovered after the fire and animal species have been more flourished than before because it gives them a chance to evolve the new way of life. these claims refute the author's indications about the whole animal population including both small and big were unable to evade this destruction in both their food chain and original territory were totally eliminated by unexpected fire.
The text lastly insists that the above disasters took away visitors and it affected adversely for the local economy because of the terrible condition of the park and messy view of it. The speaker in the lecture counter these indications by asserting that the fire didn't the only reason why tourists went away. As a matter of fact, because of a shortage of precipitation and unpredictable storms etc. However, those burden on the park turned out into positive perspectives of travellers due to fast restoration and more diversity of species.
