The professor revises the idea presented in the passage that Venus is inhospitable for human presence and proposes an idea to solve each of the points mentioned in the reading.
The professor explains that instead of landing an aircraft on the planet's surface, some researchers proposed to float the station in the atmosphere. This approach would solve all the problems associated with landing on Venus.
First of all, the reading states that due to the very high surface pressure of the planet, everything made by humans will be crushed. The professor argues that a floating station could be sent to the altitudes in which the pressure equals the Earth pressure. This happens because the pressure lowers when the station goes high up.
Secondly, there are various compound chemical substances, including carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid, in the atmosphere that can be used to obtain water and oxygen through the chemical processes. Thus, the lack of water and oxygen on Venus could not be an issue.
Finally, the professor asserts that high in the atmosphere, the clouds are thinner. Besides, due to the fact that the station is floated in the atmosphere, it can take advantage of the direct light of sunlight and the reflected light of the clouds below. Therefore, the thick clouds and the dense layer of carbon dioxide would not make a big problem for a floated station
