Both the reading and listening parts offer two opposite views on the possibility of colonization on the asteroid. While the passage lists three reasons to rear the feasibility of this colonization; the professor, otherwise, considers them impractical and mentions each reason's downsides.

First of all, the article referred to the low gravity on the asteroid as an advantage which makes a landing in and taking off easy; on the other hand, the lecturer refutes this advantage by mentioning other side-effects of low gravity. As he explains, the low gravity causes severe health issues such as the reduction of muscle mass and bone density in a few months. By the settlement for a longer period, these health issues are inevitable and can threaten people's life. Therefore, the low gravity has a major impact on the health which outweighs its benefits.

Secondly, the text stated that the availability of valuable metals in asteroids can be profitable for people by mining and exporting them to earth. On the contrary, the instructor rejects this reason too. According to his assertation, the excavation and exporting of metal to earth is costly which reduces the number of profits. Furthermore, there is no warranty the price of these metal will remain the same; especially be the increment of their availabilities, their marketing price will be declined. Thus, the mining valuable metals cannot be a cogent reason for colonization on asteroids.

Finally, meanwhile, the passage highlighted the close distance between the asteroids and earth as another clue; the professor, on the other hand, denies this reason too. Based on his description, although asteroids are close to earth during the getting to them, they possess unusual reaction and moves away. So, during the getting back period, there are not as close to the earth as they were previously. Even there is the possibility that they get as far as Mars, in this condition, the returning will not be as simple as assumed. Consequently, the considered convenience of transportation between the asteroids and Earth is not valid.
