You’re working overseas in an international company. You are leaving the country in an emergency. Write a letter to your friends explaining the situation.
In the letter, you should
– apologise for leaving like this
– explain what happened
– tell them what you’re going to miss about working with them
Dear John and Maria,
I'm sorry for informing both of you about my plans to rush back to my home country on such short notice. I wanted to meet you before leaving but due to my scheduled itinerary and to clear all the dues, I was unable to see you both on my last working day. Please accept my apologies for that.
My father is hospitalized and is in serious condition. My mother is worried about him and crying since then. As I'm the only child of my parents, It's my responsibility to support my family at this critical time. I 've to take care of my parents, therefore, I've decided to quit my job here and to shift with my parents. I hope that you'll understand my situation.
Since now I'm writing, I must tell you both that I've learnt a lot by working with one of the intellectual minds like you. You both have supported and guided me throughout my career there in Germany. I'll miss the brainstorming sessions, tea breaks and all the funny moments we had at work. Overall, It was a great working experience with you both.
Once again sorry and be in touch.
Best wishes,
Ell
