Eating sweet foods produces acid in the mouth, which can cause tooth decay. (High acid levels are measured by low pH values)
Describe the information below and discuss the implications for dental health.
The line chart indicate about the acidity changing when human being eat three kinds of sugar (fruit sugar, cane sugar and honey) in humans’ month. And whether they can cause tooth decay or not with time.
The line all start from the 7 PH level after human ate them. But the cane sugar can cause a more serious increase in acidity than other two sugar, which the PH level drop lower than 4 while the other two are higher than that within 5 minutes. The line of honey drop less serious than other two, and it shows a level-off in the after five minutes, while the PH level line of cane sugar and fruit sugar start to raise. The PH level of fruit sugar has become higher than the figure of honey when the time reach in 10 minutes, however after that time the line of honey raise and goes over the fruit sugar.
It costs the longest time for cane sugar to reach the acid level at which tooth decay may not occurs, and the honey cost the least time of it. Also, it cost the longest time for human body come back to 7 PH after consume the cane sugar, and the figure for honey cost the least.
