The reading claims that humpback whales migrate long distances by navigating from the stars. The author elaborates his viewpoints by providing three main reasons. Nevertheless, as the professor believes it is fascinating idea but thinks evidence are not convincing and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading asserts that they are intelligent animals with far exceeds brain power and indicates their cognitive ability as considerable reason. However, the professor refutes this concept by stating that navigation by stars not connected to intelligent of animals. In addition, he states ducks as another animals navigation by stars without any high intelligent overall or cognitive ability.
Furthermore, the article posits that humpback whales migerate in stright lines as some birds which used from landmark to stay on direct track. On the other hand, the lecturer brings up the fact that another external forces as correct defination. he states that humpback whales have bio magnit ability whch help them to sense earth's magnitic field in order to migerating long distance with straight lines.
Finally, the article avers that humpback whales have unusal behavior ( floating stright up for several minutes) which could be imply they are looking for stars to navigation. Contrary, the lecturer casts doubt on this claim by stating that some sharks which don't migerate but act as the whales. In fact sharks use spy-hopping in order to looking for hunting. Also, he mentioned that whales do spy-hopping in day time more than night; hence, there is not stars on night sky and this cocept has poor definition, too.
