Summarize the points in the lecture, being sure to explain how they address the specific ideas about solar energy described in the reading passage.
Solar energy is a very promising, clean and lucrative source of energy, as compared to non-renewable fossil fuel energy. The passage aims to summarize the merits of solar energy, mainly on three basis: eliminate reliance on fossil fuel, non-pollutant nature and low maintenance cost. Although, the professor provides some undermining views on the non-pollutant nature of the solar energy, he still states that the beneficial factors out-weights all the negative ones. He talks about solar energy mainly focusing on: offset production, multi-faceted uses and financial benefits.
First of all, the passage merits use of solar energy for its ability to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels which are being consumed at a much higher rate and are not provident in the future. It states that solar energy can become a new force with no fear of over-production or exhaustion. The professor does not further illustrate on this topic .
Secondly, the lecture talks about clean, environment friendly effects of solar energy, as compared to foul smell emitting fossil fuel. The professor holds the same view, however, initially he has some consternation regarding the need of using pollutant fossil fuel for the production of solar energy. But he later on, undermines this by stating that offset production of solar energy after 5 years, can easily overcome all such need. So, it is a non-pollutant energy source.
Thirdly, the passage talks about the low cost of solar energy. The professor further illustrates on this topic by not only explaining the financial benefits of production but also focusing on advantages for sale of solar energy. In doing so, he talks about, the tax incentives that helps to easily offset the cost of installation and provides better environment for sales. He adds that, we only need to pay for the initial panels and let the savings flow in. Additionally, the professor puts some light in multi-faceted use of solar energy, where he focuses on health benefits of the solar energy, in comparison to non-renewable fuels.
So, to sum up, solar energy has a lot of merits as compared to fossil fuels. It is environment friendly, requires low money input, has health benefits and can easily outrun the initial cost of production. Both the lecture and the passage agree on this view. However, still people are not exploiting this benefits in an expected way, which has made the professor confounded.
