units of electricity by fuel source in Australia and France
the pie charts illustrate the proportion of five different sources of fuel for Australian and French in 1980 and 2000.
overall, the total electricity production in the two countries almost doubled during the period shown and the big discrepancies were seen in the sources used.
coal was used as the main fuel source in Australia in 1980 and almost tripled in 20 years later around 130 units. in the meantime, nuclear power took the same position in france, from 15 units in 1980 to 126 in 2000.
hydro power accounted for nearly 20% in both two years in Australia, while the percentage of using that type of source in France dropped from 5 to 2 units in 2000. by contrast, about 20 to 25 units of electricity by oil fuel was spent in France in corresponding with a considerable fall in Australia to just 2 units in 2000. natural fuel played a significant role in 1980 and became nearly obsoleted in the 20 following years.
