The diagram below shows the life cycle of a salmon, from egg to adult fish.
The picture illustrates the different life stages of salmon.
Overall, it can be observed that there are 8 phases in the life cycle of salmon, beginning with hatching of egg in the incubation period and ending with the spawning of adult fish in the same river.
To begin with, salmon begin their lives in the river and in the form of hatching the egg in the incubation period. The young salmon will emerge to freshwater rearing from eggs. Before swimming to the ocean, young fish will migrate to estuary rearing and it will occur both in river water and ocean and it is called ESTUARY stages. Salmon will migrate to ocean from estuary rearing and it will migrate with other fish in the ocean, from there they will growth and maturity will happen by mingling with other fish. Then the adult fish then travel to the river for the spawning and they will migrate to spawning areas in the rivers. During the spawning, salmon will produce eggs in the same river where salmon was born.
