Question: Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on specific points made reading passage.
American wood companies ecologically standard
The listening and the reading materials have a debate if wood companies in the US pay attention to ecological standars. The penman puts forward 3 main hypotheses, which are refuted by the following orator.
First of all, the writer suggests that since a lot of products in US advertise for being 'new or improved, American do not trust on them. On the contrary, the speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According to him, not only Ámerican distinguish between different product's advertising, but they also having more confidence for using certificated ones.
The second point offered by the author is that high price of certificated products prevents consumers and companies for spending much money for them. On the other hand, the professor casts doubt on this assumption by saying that when the difference between 2 products be high it may be correct, but their difference is less that 5%. As a results, American will prefer certificated products to not standard ones.
Last, the reading passage proposes that US companies often sell their productions nationally and they do not need to have foreign consumer. Thus, they do not need to special certification. However, the lecturer holds a different perspective. He explains that the wood companies need to compete with foreign and international trader in quality and quantity. So, they devote more attention to standardization.
In all, the ideas mentioned in the speech counter the opinions in the text according the above reasons.
