Above bar chart illustrates the number of vehicles owned by people of china between 1987 and 1999. units are given by number of vehicles per thousand people.
Overall, number of vehicles owned by Chinese increased significantly over the period, reaching approximately ten times of the initial value at the end of the period.
Moving forward, in 1987 vehicle ownership was recorded as around 400 units per thousand people, which increased gradually in the following years, hitting 500 units in 1989 and approximately 1000 units in 1991 and 1993, while can clearly see that there is a minimal difference of around 50 units between these two years.
In terms of the following years, during 1993-1995, number of vehicles per thousand people experienced a rapid plummet from 1000 units to 2000 units. Then there was a significant rise throughout the period, making 3000 units in 1997 and around 4100 units in 1999, which was double the value recorded in 1995.
