The graph below shows the number of overseas visitors to three different areas in a European country between 1987 and 2007
The line graph compares the total number of tourists to three different regions in a country in Europe from 1987 to 2007.
Overall, it is clear that over the 10 years, all the destinations attracted more visitors. In addition, the coastal location remained its dominant role in terms of the number of tourists.
In 1987, the coast was the most favorite destination with 70 thousand visitors, followed by the lake with exactly 30 thousand. The mountain was least visited, with approximately 10 thousand tourists less than the lake. In the following 10 years, both the coastal destination and the lake witnessed a downward trend in their number of tourists, dropping by 20 thousand and 10 thousand respectively. By contrast, more people chose the mountain as their destination, raising to nearly 40 thousand tourists.
At the end of the period, although both the lake and the coast attracted more travellers, the growth in tn the number of tourists to the coast was more dramatic, as twice as that of the lake. Interestingly, the number of tourists to the mountain went down at exactly 50 thousand, after reaching its peak in 2002.
