The graph demonstrates the proportion of total sales of car producers in four regions of the world over the course of five years, starting from 2006. Overall, there was an upward trend in the percentage of cars sold by Asian and North American car companies, as opposed to the data for the other regions. Also, North America registered the lowest figures throughout the surveyed period, bottoming in 2009.
In 2006, the percentage of total sales of Asian car companies, starting at 30%, which tripled the data for North America. Then, a sharp ascent of 20% to reach 50% in 2010 was seen in the amount of money collected from car manufacturers in Asia. Meanwhile, the proportion of cars sold by producers in North America witnessed a two-fold descent to hit a record low of 5% in 2009 before recovering rapidly to 11% in 2010.
In the first year of the period, the sale percentage of South American car manufacturers constituted 30% of total sales, which fell dramatically and remained unchanged at 21% in the next two years. Likewise, there was a significant rise in the data for European car producers to the top at 38% in 2008, before decreasing steadily to reach a record low of 30% in 2010. Meanwhile, there was a gradual decrease in the figure for South America and then remained almost unchanged at 21% in the next 2 years, followed by a significant descent to reach a record-low of 9% in the last year.
