The pie charts compare the proportion of spending on different categories in an average family in a nation in two years 1950 and 2010.
It is clear the percentage of housing experienced a significant decrease in the period shown, but the opposite was true for the figure for food. In addition, the figure for education and health care were the lowest.
In 1950, the proportion of housing was highest at 72.1% of total household expenditures, while the figure for food and education was significantly lower at 11.2% and 6.6% respectively. By contrast, the figure for Heath care and Transportation were lowest at 2.4% and 3.3% respectively. Meanwhile, only 4.4% of total spending was on Other.
In 2020, the proportion of Food was rapidly increased to more than 20% to 34% of total household expenditures and became the highest figure in the chart. This year experienced a significant decrease to 22% of housing, while the figure for Other decreased to 19.2%. At the same time, the figure for transportation and health care were slightly raised at 14% and 4.5% respectively. Meanwhile, the figure for education slightly went down at 6.3%.
