The line graph below shows the percentage of tourists to England who visited four different attractions in Brighton.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
The provided line graph compares the proportion of visitors to England who visited four attractive sites in Brighton in the period of 20 years between 1980 and 2010.
In general, Art Gallery, Pavilion and Festival experienced a downward trend when only Pier witnessed an upward trend in the percentage of tourists. Despite this, Pavilion was the most popular attraction in Brighton.
From 1980 to 1995, the percentage of tourists to pavilion rose dramatically from 25% to nearly 50% while there was a gradual increase in the proportion of tourists to Festival. In the same period, Art gallery underwent a significant growth by nearly 20% between 1980 and 1985 before falling suddenly after 1985. Meanwhile, the percentage of people to Pier fluctuated.
From 1995 onwards, there was a slight rise in the percentage of tourists to Festival to over 37% in 2000 and it remained the same level until 2010. In contrast, Art gallery and Pavilion saw a substantial drop to over 30% and nearly 10% respectively in 2010. Whereas, Pier visitors’ proportion started to grow sharply from 2000 to 2010.
