In year 1982, the production of oil was just above 2 Millions of oil barrels per day, which is slightly higher than consumption. From 1994, the production rate was growing slightly and reached to nearly 3.5 Millions of barrels/day by 2006.
On the other hand, the consumption rate which started from just below 2 million of barrels/day remained steady till year 1990, and had shown increasing slope touching around 3.5 millions of barrels/per day in 1994, the consumption rate kept on rising almost above 6 millions of barrels/day by year 2006.
