The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries.
Cambridge 6 test 1 task 1
The line graph and table illustrate the different water usage in three sectors by the world population for the 1900-2000 period and in two specific countries in 2000.
The first impression is that Agriculture accounts for the highest amount at all times and there is an increasing tendency throughout the years in three groups of users. Regarding the two nations mentioned, Brazil unarguably outperforms Congo in all aspects not just water consumption.
In particular, it can be observed from the graph that the global water use in the Agriculture area witnessed a consistent yet subtle improvement in the 1900-1940 phase before rising dramatically from 1940 at 750 km3 to 3000 km3 in 2000. While a similar trend was shared by the other sectors during 1900-1950, Industrial factories and companies used much more water than households did since 1950. These two both started at 0 km3 in 1900 and ended up at 1250 km3 and 500 km3 in 2000 respectively.
On the other hand, Brazil consumed more than 44 times the water amount used by Congo. This can be related to the distinguishing gap between two nations in total population and square kilometers.
