Overall, local fixed line calls remained popular across the period in review. Whereas, mobile calls was least popular within the same time bracket.
In 1995, the total number of minutes spent on local-fixed line calls was a slightly above 70 billion in the united Kingdom. However, fixed line call rates was just about half of this figure in the same year. Subsequently, local fixed line call rate continue to rise steadily over the years, and peaked at approximately 90 billion in 1998 and 1999, which was the highest within the stated time frame. Afterwards, it then decreased gradually to around 71 billion 2002. In contrasts, national and international fixed-line witnessed a steady increase over 6 years period, and reached approximately 60 billion minutes in 2002.
Furthermore, in 1995, local call minutes stood at about 1 billion. It then rose significantly over the years, and reached a peak of about 45 billion at the end of the period in review.
