In the lecture, the speaker states that the painting pointed in the text is real work of Rembrandt although all the arguments in the text are true.
First, inconsistency in the dressing was true but she explaines that fur was added to the original painting 100 years after the time of painting. This will explains the inconsistency in the clothing. She believes that somebody years after the original painting added the fur to increases the value of the painting by looking like aristocracy state. Therefore, the first reason in the text has its explanation.
Moreover, the text claims that Rembrandt was master of light and shade and the painting does not show this skill. The professor points out that the added fur is the reason of this discrepancy and when the fur removed from the painting the light color cloth in the neck does not make any shadow in the face. Consequently, the argument provided is not the reason of painting being fake.
Lastly, in the passage author claimes that the back of painting is not the same of other work of Ramberdt. The lecturer describes that the pannel of wooded glued together added after the fur was added to the original painting. The original painting was in simple wood from same tree that was used in other works of Rambertd. In fact, adding the fur and enlarging the back was performed later to make the painting grand and invaluable by someone else. As a result, the original painting indeed is Ramberdt work.
