Doctors in many countries believe that people are not getting enough exercise.
What might be causing this lack of exercise? What can be done to address the issue?
Experts in the field of medicine are of the opinion that the amount of required exercise is falling over the years. This essay
will elaborate on the reasons for this and how we can improve the situation.
The predominant cause of this concern is the overall urbanization of our surroundings which has led to fewer number of
parks and walkways. Moreover, if you want to still exercise the only option remains is the paid facilities such as gyms &
yoga classes. An average person, for instance, spends over 10% of his monthly salary on fitness related activities.
Everyone can not afford this and therefore opt out to save on this expenditure. Another reason for the decline in physical
activity is related to the growth of mobile phones and other devices. With the advent of electronic devices, people have
become lazy and like to spend their free time on social media platforms or by playing games. A good example for this the
online video game called PUBG, where more that 50% of the young population of India spends a minimum of 3 hours daily
that could have been utilized for exercise.
The trend where more and more individuals are choosing to avoid any form of cardio or muscle building trainning is only
rising . If this doesnt stop, the health issues in relation to this will significantly increase. A simple way to curb this is by
educating the public on the ill-effects of such a lifestyle. Communities can raise awareness about this though schools and
social gatherings. The government can also play a vital role by developing places where citizens can exercise for free and
for as long as they desire. In the city of Mumbai, the city coucil built a walking pathway under a busy flyover, which gave the
residents in that locality a new place to walk and the number of users doubled in a single week.
In conclusion, there are many reasons to stop oneself from exercising, but with the right advice and a little help, people can
get back on track to live a healthy lifestyle.
