The graph portraits how car ownership had been changing in Great Britain in the period 1961-2001.
We are given 3 types of households: without a car, with one car, with two or more cars. For those households who had no car it was downward trend. Vice versa, households with 1 and 2 or more cars showed an upward trend.
Let’s go into details. Early on, in 1961, people without a car had the highest rate - about 66%. 1-car axis and 2-or-more car axis had 35% and 0% respectively. Till 1981 those 2 groups showed almost the same rise, only with 1 exception for axis for 2-or-more cars in between 1971-1981 - there was a slowdown in growth. After 1981 the volume of households with 1 car started to slightly decline, while the rising of the households with 2 or more cars started to go up more quickly.
At the end of given data, 2001, the percentage of households who had no car and who had 2 or more cars levelled off - it was approximately 29%, while the amount of households with 1 car was about 45%.
In summary, we see that from 1961 till 2001 the amount of households with at least 1 car had increased, and the percentage who had no cas had declined.
