Essay topics:

The table below gives information about the underground railway
systems in six cities

The given table details the statistical information defining the distance traveled (in km) in relation to the number of passengers who traveled using underground railway services in six different cities.

Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that although the underground railway system in London was the oldest one, the maximum number of passengers was recorded in Tokyo which developed after about 63 years. However, Kyoto and Los Angeles remained at the last on the chart with respect to both the factors.

According to the given illustration, to begin with, near the end of the 18th century, London(in 1863), and Paris(in 1900) established their underground railway facilities. Whilst the latter rode nearly half of the distance as compared to the former(394 km), the latter surpassed the former by 446 million passengers as against 775 million in London. Also, despite traveling only 155 km, Tokyo, which opened its underground system in 1927, witnessed the highest number of travelers about 736 million more than Paris.

Further, after covering nearly one-third of the distance covered by London's railway, Washington DC(opened in 1976) observed approximately half of the passengers as recorded in London. Moreover, Kyoto(1981), Los Angeles(2001) who traveled just 11km and 28km reported only 45 million and 50 million passengers respectively, the lowest numbers in the chart.
