The two supplied plans demonstrate how Portland developed in the years of 1950 and 2007.
Overall, it is conspicuous that the natural estate was cleared to make space for the new clutch of the constructions, including the improvement of road networks.
In 1950, there were 2 major areas which were grassland, occupying half of the coastal town, and the industrial area positioning opposite the car park. After 47 years, the cinema and the block of houses were built in the south of the town and creating the main transition with the row of shops locating opposite the formers.
In 2017, however, the car park was moved to the west side of the main road with the voluminous addition of some facilities, namely multi-stores, a swimming pool, and a park. Moreover, few blocks of apartments were built on the east of the town to replace the position of the car park. Remarkably, a small road was constructed to surround the beach and operating a new marina for yachts.
