In many countries, traditional customs are being lost. Why do you think this is? What can parents and schools do to keep customs alive?
Loss of traditional cultures and customs are a serious threat to the nation's identity, and this practice is kept on increasing around the world. According to me, modernisation is the main reason behind the loss of cultural customs and values. This essay will discuss the reasons in detail and suggest some practices that can be opted by parents and schools to encourage youngsters to know more about their country.
To begin with, traditional customs are highly affected by the introduction of western culture. People are more likely to follow and celebrate the cultures that are more popular and are followed by their near and dear ones. Moreover, nowadays due to the huge influence of entertainment industries on the local public, people are wanting to do the same things that were shown in the movies and celebrating them. As a result, forgetting their own culture. Thus, changes in the modern world are affecting the country's historical customs.
There are not only one, but a plethora of ways by which parents and schools help children to know about the traditional customs, in order to keep them alive. First of all, schools should organise grand celebrations at the time of any national event, and should also make sure that maximum students participate in it. For example, by organising quiz competitions and small speeches on their national traditions. Secondly, parents on other hand answer every question that toddlers are having on local customs and make them understand why it is essential for them and their country.
To recapitulate, I opine by saying that western influence is one of the main reasons that a person is no more interested in celebrating their traditions. But, to overcome with this problem teachers and elder's should guide children from a very young age.
