The graphs below show the percentages of people using public transport and private cars in different cities in Australia between 2000 and 2010.
The line chart gives information about the comparison of the number of public transport and private cars used in five cities in Australia over a period of ten years.
Overall, it can be seen clearly from the chart that the highest percentage of using public transport and private cars belonged to people living in Sydney, as compared to that of Aidelaide was the lowest. The proportion of people using private cars followed an upward trend during the given period of time.
First of all, the percentage of public transport used in Sydney was 20% in 2000 and there was a significant increase of 25% in 2010, as against that of Melbourne was lower, with about 19% in 2000 and rising slightly to 20% in 2010. Other three cities inluding Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide remained stable from 2000 to 2010, with 14%, 12% and 10% respectively.
On the other hand, the proportion of Sydney people who using private cars still took the first position in the list, with nearly 75% in 2000 and then increasing considerably to 90% in 2010. By contrast, that of Adelaide citizen was the lowest, with 60% in 2000 and then rising dramatically by 10% from 60% to 70%.
