The graphs below show the trends in three boys' and girls' names which are currently
popular in the UK.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.
The graph illustrating the current popular name trends in UK by their gender, between 1925 to 2000 period. While, first graph focused on boys famous name, second graph is depicting girls name trend.
Overall, from the first graph, it was Daniel, Oliver and, Alexander chosen as the common name and all three names were equally low usage in the beginning of the period and reached comparatively higher usage in the end of the period. This trend was also observed in second graph of girls, namely, Sophia, Isabella and Emily. However, there was some fluctuation in the usage during the years which is clearly detected in male group while female group has increased moderately.
Firstly, parents who named their male children Alexander and Oliver were less than 2 in per thousand in 1925 but these choices were reversed in within 50 years, later on in 2000, Alexander become the most famous name by more than 10 in per thousands. Another known name Daniel, which considered the most famous name from 1925 to beginning of 2000, but at the exact point, has beaten by Oliver.
Comparing to the high fluctuation of boy’s name, there was no trend observed in girls name but there was gradual increase in each three names. Naming their female children Emily, Isabella and, Sophia were less than 2 in per thousand in 1925 and constant increase continued until 1950 until Emily become comparatively higher than other two names in 1975 by almost 4 in per thousand. However, by the 2000, all three names were become equally widespread by 8 to 12 in per thousand.
