What are the alternatives to zoos if they are closed?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Most people are of the opinion that having zoos no longer makes sense and should be shut.
Firstly, one of the biggest cons of having zoo is that the animals are held in captivity. Zoos often lack the required infrastructure for providing habitat similar to the environment where the animal is from. Also, these places are majorly just money minting schemes at the cost of innocent animals.
Coming to alternatives of zoos, there are sanctuaries, national parks and reserves. These sites are more similar to the natural habitats of the animals. Another advantage of these locations is the animals are free to roam around. Also, these area have many research projects going on in the side so they have plenty of funding provided by both private and government organisations. If the zoos are closed, animals can be relocated which would provide more healthy atmosphere.
It is quite evident that zoos are not the only means to study and bring awareness about animals. There are various other methods which are more animal friendly.
