The maps below show the changes in a town after the construction of a hydroelectric power dam
The diagrams illustrate how the building of a hydroelectric power dam affects on a town over a period of 20 years, from 1990 to 2010.
A general picture is that the town witnessed the disappearance of most forests and farmlands and the emergence of infrastructures such as power poles.
Looking at the maps in more detail, in 1990, while a forest occupied a huge size at the upstream of the river, which facilitated the conservation and development of rare plants and animals, on the other side of the river, small villages were situated near mountains and irrigated farmlands.
After the construction of a hydroelectric power dam, the forest and ancient structure were demolished and replaced by a huge lake to store water and do fishing. A dam was constructed between two mountains and regulated water flow in the lake. The edge of the river witnessed the disappearance of forest and farmlands which were substituted by power poles and more villages. A hotel emerged closed to the hydroelectric power dam.
