In 2010, the Caribbean island attracted 1 million visitors in total, in which the majority of tourists opted to stay on the island as this figure accounted for approximately 0.75 million people. As compared to staying on the island, enjoying the visit on cruise ships was not popular at that time.
Over the next 5 years, the total number of people visiting this Caribbean island went up steeply to almost 2.75 million visitors. After witnessing a sharp rise between 2010 and 2015, the figure for tourists staying on cruise ships continued to rocket to 2 million at the end of the period. Meanwhile, the number of people spending the whole visit on the island rose gradually and reach about 1.5 million in 2017, after having met the figure for visitors staying on the island at 1.4 million people. At a staggering 3.5 million visitors, this Caribbean island's total number of visitors eventually end up at more than three times as many as its total of tourists in 2010.
