Government should spend more money on railways rather than roadways.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
I completely disagree with the notion; governments should only develop railways not roadways and will provide my supporting arguments throughout this passage.
Although, it's undeniable that railways have more advantages over roadways but sometimes roadways proved to be more beneficial for mankind. If a person encounters an emergency or serious health problem like heart attack or met with some kind of accidents, ambulance or car is the fastest way reach hospital or our destination rather waiting for train on station. Secondly, it's not possible to build a station for every destination. One might have to travel extra distance from station to reach his/her endpoint in that case if road navigation system isn’t appropriate mankind will suffer. Lastly, the younger generation can find it easy to use this mode of transportation but it is very difficult for elderly people to travel via rails. Aged people are generally weak and have little stamina and energy to walk. So, it can be quite challenging for them to first reach the station and then catch a train while it's much easier to travel via road because vehicles are available at our doorstep. Also, it is expensive to construct a railway line compared to roads and at the same time huge amount of electricity is required to power a railway engine
On the other hand, we shouldn’t forget services served by railways which are more economic and environment friendly. Railways can carry more than thousands of passengers at once which is the greatest advantage of it. Another is, it can cover long distances in lesser time compared to roadways. Thus, saves our precious time.
Based on the above discussion, I conclude that both modes of transportation are necessary for the development of a nation. So, it's foolishness to give more importance to only one.
