The charts below show the percentage of people working in different sectors in town A and town B in 1960 and 2010.
The charts compare the changes in terms of the proportion of workers in three sectors in town A and town B between 1960 and 2010.
It is clear that in town A, while the proportion of town A’s dwellers employed in the field of manufacturing significantly decreased, service-related jobs became more popular during the 50-year period. At the same time, although town B witnessed a slight growth in terms of sales and service employment, the dominant position of manufacturing still remained.
In 1960, there was no significant gap in the distribution of workers in town A. The manufacturing-related jobs accounted for 41% of total employees in town A and the figures for sales and service were recorded equally at 30%. However, there was a dramatic climb in the proportion of manufacturing (64%) in the next 50 years, which surpassed the two others, whereas the employment of sales and service reduced to 16%5 and 20% respectively.
Looking at the town B, we can easily see that although the figure for manufacturing workers decreased by 12% during the period, it still ranked the highest position with 58%. By contrast, sales and service saw a marginal increase to 22% and 25% respectively in 2010.
