The diagram gives information about the transformation from sugar cane to sugar. Overall, the process has 7 steps in three main stages, beginning with the cultivation of sugarcane then followed by chemical production and ending with the release of sugar.
In terms of the first stage, the plants are cultivated and the most suitable time to harvest is after about 12 to 18 months. The mature sugarcanes can be harvested by hand with a reaping hook or, instead, an industrial farming machinery which is more productive than individual power. After harvesting, the collected plants are crushed through a filtering machine with 2 big wheels and a large round box so that it is able to contain the sugarcane juice.
The next mentioned stage is the process of chemical transformation with 2 small steps: purifying juice and evaporating. Firstly, a limestone filter in the shape of a funnel is prepared for the purification where the juice is poured through and the sugar cane essences flow into the evaporator. Under the high temperature in the evaporation, the essences from sugarcane become syrup, which then all the sugar crystals in the mixture are separated and cooled. Finally, sugar is released.
