The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram demonstrates the process of producing electricity by water energy in a hydroelectric power plant.
In general, the model operates two different procedures during night and day which contains 4 main sections including two reservoirs, the generator, and the two-way turbine.
During the day, the model generates electricity using the water from the highly located reservoir. The water is released by the opening of the dam and flows down into the power station. The water then crosses the turbine leaving it spinning which makes the generator work. Electricity produced from the generator will be transmitted to power lines and the national grid. The water later moves to the low-level reservoir for another purpose.
At night, the dam is closed preventing the water from coming downwards. At the same time, the spare water from the low reservoir is pumped back to the high-level reservoir. During the water returning, it passes the turbine which also generates electricity simultaneously.
