The diagram illustrates the process by which hydroelectricity is manufactured.
In general, the picture gives information about all the equipment and types of machinery involved in the process and how the hydroelectric power station operates differently within a day.
To begin with, a river must be channeled to a high-level reservoir, also supported by a dam. There is an intake area below the reservoir that connects with the power station. The gap is open during the daytime to allow the water flow for generating electricity. Once the water reaches the turbines in the station, the generator is activated and it produces electricity which travels to the national grid through power lines. Following this, the used water is passed to the low-level reservoir and stored in it.
On the other hand, during the night, the procedures are performed in the opposite direction. The collected water is pumped from the low-level to the high-level reservoir by the reversible turbines for use in the next day.
