Essay topics:

The chart gives information about the proportion of students choosing different science subjects in a university in 1992 and 2000.

The 2 bar charts reveal information about the percentage of students of a university in choosing 3 science subjects namely Biology, Physics, and Computer Science by gender in 1992 and 2012. Each unit is measured in percent (%).

As can be seen from the diagram, the number of males in choosing science subjects was higher than the one of females in both years. The ratio of Biology was the highest with under 70% and over 40% in 1992 and 2012, respectively.

To begin with, the proportion of women was just over 30% in 1992, which made of one-second of men. After the next 20 years, there was a slight decrease to 50% in the percentage of males. By contrast, a mass rise of nearly 20% was recorded in the ratio of females.

In 1992, the proportion of Computer Science was just under 5%, which is the lowest ratio among all subjects, it then went up dramatically to over 20% in 2012. Another striking feature is that the percentage of Physics remained stable around 20% in both years.
