The Graph below shows average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
The given line graph gives the information about the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per head in 3 countries namely the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy over the period of 40 years, from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, as can be seen from the graph, the United Kingdom and Sweden witnessed downward trends while the opposite trend was true for Italy and Portugal. Another striking point is that the United Kingdom always took the highest place over the period of time.
To be more specific, the figure for CO2 in the United Kingdom in 1967 was approximately 11 tonnes, with a subsequent slight fall to 10 tonnes in 1987 and a final drop to 9 tonnes in 2007. Similarly, that in Sweden started at 9 tonnes at the beginning, after which it experienced a moderate fluctuation between 7 and 11 to 7 tonnes after 20 years, before reaching roughly 5 tonnes in 2007.
By contrast, in terms of the remaining countries namely Italy and Portugal, both two countries saw upward trends. In 1967, the rate of CO2 in Portugal starting at 1 tonnes, the lowest point of the graph, climbed constantly and dramatically to about 5 tonnes in 2007 after a significant growth to 3 tonnes in 1967. Likewise, the amount of CO2 in Italy was at roughly 4 tonnes in 1967, followed by a considerable rise to 7 tonnes in the following 20 years, and a final increase to nearly 8 tonnes in the final year of the period.
