The diagram illustrates the development of West Park Secondary School over the period of 60 years, starting from 1950.
Overall, the main road remained unchanged throughout the period. Interestingly, houses and farmland were completely disappeared while other features just witnessed the extension or reduction in size.
From 1950 to 1980, three houses located in the northwest were removed to make room for a new car park. The building was expanded into two parts, one is a science block nearing the car park and the other was seen as the main building. The place for farmland was demolished to construct a sports field. Over this period, the playground remained unchanged at the corner of the southeast.
In the next 30 years, from 1980, the enlargement of car park occupied the half of total school’s area. The playground and sports field were reduced in size to be located in the initial place of the playground. Meanwhile, the science block and main building stayed at the same location.
