Essay topics:

The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries.

Task 1:
The line graph compares the amount of water used for three different areas, namely: agriculture, industrial and domestic use from 1900 to 2000. The table illustrates the water consumption of Brazil and Congo in 2000.
Overall, the figure of all three sectors increased over the period shown. In addition, the number relating to agriculture was the highest in all ten years while the lowest figure is recorded in domestic uses. Turning to the given table, it is clear to see that Brazil has a higher population than Congo, which has led to the higher amount for water consumption per person in Brazil.
In the first year (1900), the amount of agriculture stood at the highest position with the number of nearly 500 m3. The figures for industrial and domestic use were at the same level with the number roughly 100 m3 in 1900. Then the water use of farming has a significant growth from around 500 to approximately 3000 m3 in 2000. Turning to the amount of industrial and domestic, it seems to remain stable in the period of the next two year from the beginning. However, between 1940 and 2000, the figure of industrial use rose substantially from nearly 100 to over 1000 m3. The amount domestic has a gradual climb from 100 to about 300 m3 during the same period at the usage in the home.
Moving to the table, since Brazil has a higher number of population than Congo with the figure of 176 millions. That has led to the irrigated land and water consumption of Brazil also surpassing the Democratic Republic of Congo with the number of 26500 km2 and 359 m3, respectively.
