Essay topics:

The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.

The first pie chart compares the amount of energy was used by people in Australia in various fields and the second one illustrates the greenhouse gas emissions released by this energy use.

It can be seen that households in Australia used the most energy for heating and least for cooling. However, water heating was the main sector that had an immense influence on gas emissions.

According to the first pie chart, Australian households had a big demand for heating which consumed the largest amount of energy, up to 42% whereas, energy consumption from cooling, lighting, and refrigeration was marginally lower, at 2%, 4%, and 7% respectively. By contrast, 30% of the energy was spent on water heating, which was twice as much as that on other appliances.

Looking at the second chart in more detail, although the most energy was used for heating, it only resulted in 15% of the total emission. On the other hand, water heating took responsibility for releasing the largest amount of greenhouse gas emission accounted for over 30%. There was 28% of the energy consumed by other appliances, while the figure for refrigeration represented half of that. The amount of energy used for cooling and lighting purposes was quite negligible.
