The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plan for its development. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant
The given maps illustrate the information on the present structure of the Islip’s central area, and its planned design for renovation. Overall, the present Islip seems to be quite simple with only shops and housing area; compared to the planned one, there are more space for new road, instead of using main road, people may turn it into pedestrians-only way
As can be seen from the former map, only a few buildings are constructed, which creates no highlight for the town. For example, shops are constructed on both sides of the road, instead of any other infrastructure. The main road is divided into two paths, one crosses the town center, and the southern one is a dead-end nearby school. As a result of the deficiency of knowledge on immovables, the Minister seems not to be capable of wholly exploiting its potentials
By contrast, the developmental plan points out various predetermined changes. In detail, Shops in the north of the main road, which may probably be adjusted to be pedestrian-only street, are intended to separate into Bus station, shopping center and car parking; moreover, The rest are used for housing purposes. It is unequivocally seen that the dual carriage toward town center is going to intentionally widen so as to surround the town. This developmental reinforcements bring about such major alterations
