The given pie charts provide data on proportion of energy consumed for different purposes of average households in Australia and their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.
Overall, by far the highest proportions of both energy consumption and gas emissions belong to heating, water heating and other appliances, while cooling and lighting rank last.
Looking at the charts thoroughly, heating is responsible for the largest amount of energy use, showing 45%, while the percentage of water heating is twice as much as other appliances ( 30% and 15 % respectively). Similarly, the proportion of energy used for refrigeration is almost twice as high as lighting which accounts for 4 % and that is higher by 2 % than cooling.
As for the contribution of water heating to greenhouse gas emissions, it ranks first at 32%. However , the share of other appliances is smaller by only 4% than waterheating.
Furthermore, there is nearly no difference between the percentages of heating and refrigeration, accounting for 15% and 14% respectively. Lighting and cooling produce the lowest amount of gas emission showing the former 8% and the latter 3%.
