Overall, there are some considerable changes over 20 years gap. Children go to school by foot was recorded as the most popular way in 1990, while the first place in 2010 belong to car.
In 1990, more than 12.1 million trips per year prefer walking than others, which brings about a huge difference between the number of people choosing walking and the rest modes of transport. For car passenger, cycling, bus and, walking and bus, the figures were 4.1 million, 6 million, 2 million, 5 million and 3 million trips, respectively.
In regarding to 2010, trips made by car soaked dramatically up to 11.2 millions trips annually. On the other hand, walking, cycling, bus, and walking and bus tend to drop down by one to three million trips.
